A Four-Step Fertilizer Program for Year-Round Care
Without proper lawn care, your commercial property can quickly turn into a battleground where weeds and grass viciously compete with one another for space and nutrients. If you don’t want your business to be the site of a turf war, you’ll need to do more than water and mow on a regular basis.
Using a series of specially formulated fertilizers and weed control products, you’ll be able to enjoy a full, green lawn all season long. Here’s how our 4-step fertilizer program works:
Phase 1: Crabgrass Prevention & Fertilizer
The first step is to prevent weeds and crabgrass from growing before they even start. In early spring – ideally between February and April – we will apply a special formula to your lawn to stop unwanted weeds from germinating. We will also give your lawn an extra shot of nutrients to help the grass you do want grow faster and stronger. This phase will last approximately 2 months.
Phase 2: Weed Control & Fertilizer
Phase 2 will begin in late spring, about 4-6 weeks after the first phase has ended. We generally recommend applications anytime between April and June. During this time, we will focus on killing broadleaf weeds such as dandelions while continuing to nourish your lawn with extra nutrients.
Step 3: Fertilizer Boost
Taking place between June and August, the third phase of our program is focused on giving your lawn an extra boost of nutrients to help it thrive during the hot summer months. This time of year is characterized by intense sunlight, hot temperatures, and low precipitation in many regions, so extra water and nutrients are vital to maintaining a healthy lawn.
Phase 4: Winterizer Boost
Phase 4 is a winterizing fertilizer that helps to strengthen and protect your lawn through the winter. Application is recommended between August and November to prepare your lawn for heavy snow and freezing temperatures. It will also help your lawn grow back thick and healthier next spring.
